Why you need CyberSecurity Training

CybersecurityDid you know the Internet was never intended to be a online shopping mall, was NEVER designed to host your banking accounts, and certainly was never meant to be part of your social network? This is why cybersecurity training is so important.

Almost everyone using the Internet has a false sense of security. We believe the Internet was designed to be secure, but nothing could be further from the truth. Ask yourself "who invented email?" A service we use everyday, but no one seems to know who invented it. (hint:hackers) The Internet was built on a insecure foundation, with many inherited security vulnerabilities which are still in place today.

Besides the technical vulnerabilities, something we have little control of, isn't what puts most user at risk. The more social we become on the Internet the more we are vulnerable to social engineering. Social engineering is defined as the "art of manipulation." A perfect example is a email asking you to "forward this to everyone you know". This type of attack puts all users at risk. Unless you are educated in what social engineering is, how to defend and avoid it, you may put yourself, your family and employer at grave risk.

There is no off the shelve, big box solution that will protect you on the Internet. If someone tells you, you and your computer are safe on the Internet they are lying to you. The only way to protect yourself, is through cybersecurity education.

I've been teaching cybersecurity training for 15 years and it is absolutely 100% effective! It increases security awareness and increases overall protection. I believe teaching from a personal level, not at a employee level builds on someones personal protection and security awareness that will inherently lead to them carry over those techniques when employed. Protecting them at a personal level as well as their employers.
